I have a Lacy Network drive and it does exactly that…It can’t be done with a normal external drive…
Answer #9
If there is an ethernet cable plugged in to a PC and the external HDD is connected to that PC then you can share the drive to other pc’s on the network. Thats the easiest way….
Answer #10
Yea, i tried that already… but then, there is a problem. the windows vista laptop cant access files on my laptop, the XP one..
Also, for the shareport, i need to have hardware B3… but mine is B1 only

p.1
create a user account (on the xp one) which is exactly the same as your current user account (username & password, on the vista one)
p.2
in the properties dialogue of your shared folder (on xp) check which permissions were granted to that folder, if necessary, adjust them for the user account on the vista machine
… this should solve your problems …
p.3
Linksys DIR-635
connecting your external storage to that device is not possible via eg. usb
you need a device (or better: a case for your hdd) which supports nas, as kidd already mentioned by saying
it won't work unless your hdd has a network connection -.-
