A good password locking program

January 25th, 2020

Anyone knows about a good one?
Not one of those crappy “storing in my own drive” and like that, but a simple program that prompt everytime you try to open a password protected folder.
Example:
1. I have a folder named “folder01”.
2. open program – set password to “folder01”.
3. I’m trying to open “folder01” -> a password prompt opens.
4. If the password is correct – > open “folder01”, not correct -> “folder01” will not be opened.

You could use folderlock,But honestly it’s useless as it doesn’t
really protect your files,It just works in the background preventing
access to those who don’t have the password so it works only
on the OS level making it easy for others to obtain access via
booting to a linux live cd/safe mode or hooking the HDD as secondary
to another PC or if it’s a flash drive just plugging it to another computer
will do the trick,To sum it up if you want REAL protection you need
to use ENCRYPTION! Truecrypt is best for that.
Answer #2
I’ve used folder lock before.
If you just want to keep family members out of certain folders or basic users, it will surely do the trick.
The best way is to also hide the folder and make sure in folder options that “Don’t show hidden files or folders” is selected.

I’ve used folder lock but I didn’t like it. I’ll try Truecrypt. Thanks.
