40 or 42 inch LCD TV

January 28th, 2020

Hey guyz,
I know this might have been asked a lot of times before but couldnt find a new topic.
I am planning to buy a 40 or 42 inch LCD TV for my new home. Can you guyz suggest me a good choice? I have no brand preference but just want a best bang for my buck.
Btw, I live in India.
Thanks for your time
EDIT:
After doing a little bit of research I have found some good choices..
Samsung LA40C550 Series 5
Sony KLV EX/NX/BX 500 Series
LG 42LD650
Any more suggestions?

Answer #1
no point spending the extra 20$ for 2 more inches
Answer #2
Samsung is the best way to go, 40 or 42 is no different at all, is all about tv spec, what do they have, and engery saver.
Answer #3

It really all up to how much you want to spend on a tv which one is less money i would get that but if you want it for gaming and tv i would get the 42 inchs one
Answer #6
size of room it’s going in ?
got a samsung 40″ in a 12 foot room and it’s more than big enuf
lager room larger TV
Answer #7
Yes I know there is hardly any difference between 40 or 42 but what to do.. LG, Panasonic have 42 inches in LCD whereas Sony and Samsung only have 40 and then 46. Anyways, I have done a substantial research and found Sony and Samsung to be the best. But I have heard many talk good about LG. What do you guyz think?
Answer #8
A good rule of thumb: when you figure out what size you want, go up 2 sizes and get that one.
LG isn’t very good.

I will buy Samsung LA40C550 Series 5
Answer #11
Sony is the best choice for LCD TV’s in india, i have a Sony 32 HD TV and it works as fine as hell!
Answer #12
In 32″ inches television FULL HD rarely differs so most of the TV’s will display well. Its only in bigger screen’s the difference shows up. I really want an insight in LG TV’s. One of the tech magazine rated one of the LG LCD as the best in their test so kinda confused.
Answer #13
I suggest you Samsung , I have my tv for the past 2 years now and It’s awesome , it’s not the same brand
My friend got a sony and I found that the bravia technology ain’t so great .. We basically have the same time response and when he’s gaming there’s a ghost effect. He don’t see it , but I do.
And with the samsung you can listen video via usb port (don’t expect much format tho, but at least if you have a digital camera I’m sure you can hook it up and browse all the contain and listen to the video.
I’m pretty sure it support Xvid and divx , but i’m sure that he won’t support mkv.
Answer #14
dont go for samsung serie 5, go for serie 6 and up
Answer #15
i have a Sony 32 EX400..im indian too..its just awesome ..
Answer #16
SONY is a quality product, if you are planning for other brands compare the price (40 or 42 or whatever), if its less then don’t compromise because its a product for lifetime. When I was planning for 32″ LCD TV, I noticed that the price of 32″ LCD TV ranged between 32,000-38,000 Rs (Indian currency) and when I saw 42″ Plasma TV for 42,000Rs, I skipped the 32″ LCD TV and purchased 42″ Plasma (Panasonic Viera).
Answer #17
do not go for LG, that ~love~
Samsung should be very good and even good price as many people buy sumsung, although I heard the reason they’re so good is they copied it from panasonic
I’d still probably buy the Samsung cause I’d fear SONY’s gonna be more expensive
(boy I wish I had that extra money for it )
Answer #18
50″ Samsung plasma’s are the way to go.
Answer #19
Get the 42inch samsung
Answer #20
dont go for samsung serie 5, go for serie 6 and up

Good call but Series 6 is way of my budget. Almost 30-40% costlier than series 5.

How is it? Heard good about panasonic.. whats your view?

How is it? Heard good about panasonic.. whats your view?
Panasonic??.. I’m happy and satisfied, I’ve got full value for money and eye candy of neighbors also.. Mine TV is : Panasonic Viera (Model: TH-P42X20d)
http://www.panasonic.co.in/web/pid/9267/Spec
Pros: Free wall mounting accessories, 3 HDMI in, 3 AV in , AV out, VGA in, Auto noise reduction, 1080p HD (but I run it on 720p, reason is below “Scorp and others”), Super contrast, Card Reader, etc… , and above all you can see the TV from “side angle” also (you won’t see any shiny black things)
Cons: Cant substituted monitor, speakers quality is not good enough so have to purchase additional audio system.
BTW, 300MB movies (ScOrp, Crazzy7, ShAnIg , and all other rips) play excellent on it. The price of Panasonic Plasma TVs are going very competitive. I’m happy to invest that amount in it. Before purchasing LCD, check out the price of Plasma.
One time investment and smile for life-time.
Answer #23
Thats good to hear cause truly panasonic is cheaper then samsung and sony.. but its not full HD… Resolution: 1,024 x 768 (16:9)
so its not future proof..
And what about power consumption? Heard plasma’s consume a lot of electricity..

OK wait, I’ll take some snaps of my TV to demonstrate you 1080p practically. Is that OK.. Power consumptions:
It depends on the display modes. Like, I play my TV on CINEMA mode, so on this it consumes less. On DYNAMIC mode, it eats power. There are lots of display modes to choose from.
Attractive feature:
It has a “light sensor” inbuilt, so Brightness, Contrast and Color changes to it automatically. You don’t have to worry about adjusting those things again and again.
EDIT
Here are some Screenshots. I’m not good in taking pictures from camera, so please consider the quality.. Image

The movies screenshots that you just saw above are from 300 MB MKV movies (Scorp, Crazzy7, etc..)
So, what do you say regarding 1,024 x 768 (16:9) resolution..
Answer #25
go for that sony one looks goods
Answer #26
Hey chintuishero, looks like you are hell bent on making me buy this Viera (in a good way) I really like what I see and regarding the confusion about the resolution, follow the link below..
http://www.panasonic.co.in/web/pid/9267/Spec
Though it supports FULL HD but the Actual Resolution is 1024×768
Thanks for your help and i will really give Viera a priority Waiting for the weekend so I can go to the mall lol
Answer #27
its more of a personal choice…but here in the USA…they always say you cant go wrong with sony/samsung/panasonic these are as good as it gets for tv’s at least imo…the 40/42 preference is based on what you would rather have
Answer #28
I understand that, , but I am confused and wanted people to advice me which model would be a good choice for a home use living room tv
Answer #29
More you’ll ask, More you’ll get confused..
Answer #30
True but I would still really want some Sony and Samsung owners to speak their views
Answer #31
Again go with Samsung , you won’t regret it
Answer #32
, you own a Samsung?
