Question about external harddrive

Just wondering if will run off just the USB with the power supply not connected.
It will probably not run without AC power. I have WD My Book 1TB, and it has AC adapter too. Without it, it won’t run.
But I can recommend you Wester Digital hard drives. My Book has felt multiple times from the table down, and it’s running like nothing has happened
I have a Lacie hard drive with a program that boosts file transfers rate, does WD have programs like that?
Also the website is a bit misleading “…Just plug it in to a USB port and start saving your photos, music, video, and files.”
Just wondering if will run off just the USB with the power supply not connected.
The simple answer is NO…
external HDD needs power supply mate…use Lacie HDD..they are gud
Not all external drives need a Power supply…There are external/portable 2.5 inch usb drives that don’t require no external power…They use the usb power…
external HDD needs power supply mate...use Lacie HDD..they are gud
Not all ex drives need power. I have 3 2.5″ ex drives that don’t have power.
Please check before you type. This drive on eBay shows no mention of power.
Here is proof http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1000-GB-WD-ELEMENTS-PORTABLE-USB-External-HARD-DRIVE_W0QQitemZ180426632507QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Components?hash=item2a0243ed3b
Also the website is a bit misleading “…Just plug it in to a USB port and start saving your photos, music, video, and files.” What’s misleading about that? It’s only misleading to you because you can’t understand English. “Just plug into a usb port’ It’s not rocket science.
