m2t conversion

Anyone have any good guides on quick and dirty m2t conversion? Mac or PC is welcome, although Mac would be preferable.
I basically have some streams direct from my cable box that I want to convert to h.264 and then upload for ya guys. I have been playing around with a few solutions using MPEG Streamclip and quicktime or visualhub. So far it’s been kind of a PIA.
