[SOLVED]Internet connection help

August 7th, 2016

Hey guys, I have a new problem.
I have just recently installed a windows xp profesional (downloaded from ) on my Dell Dimension 8300.
Looked like everything was working fine. The computer im currently using to surf the net is connected to a router which is in another room. So I switched to cord that connects me to the internet from this computer to my Dell Dimension. I certainly knew for sure that the internet should have been working, but its not.
Am I missing something? Any Help would be kindly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Answer #1
Are you using wireless, Or is it directly connected to your router ?
Answer #2
Try installing the drivers of your Ethernet adapter. If you formatted your HDD then your adapter might not have been detected. Good luck mate ^_^
Answer #3
Headucation, Its directly connected to my router.
, How to do I do that? I have tried installing my sympatico cd on it, but it says it needs the modem to continue, and thats not what im trying to achive, I already have one modem connected to another computer in another room.
Answer #4
Just go to the Dell site and get the LAN drivers for your laptop. Download them and transfer them to your laptop somehow. Install them and try connecting to the internet again. Good luck mate ^_^
Answer #5
My dell is not a laptop, I will check if there are LAN drivers for it though.
edit* I do not know which driver is required, can someone direct me to one?
Here is the link to all the drivers for my dell. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WW1&osl=EN&catid=-1&impid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_8300&hidos=WW1&hidlang=en
Answer #6
I installed this http://www.network-drivers.com/drivers/118/118162.htm driver but not luck.
Silly question but… are all computers suppose to be able to surf the web?
Answer #7
As long as they have the proper connection then yes. I don’t know about yours but if it has an Ethernet adapter then it should be able to connect to the internet. What error do you get when you try to connect to the internet on your computer? Please clarify as it might help us solve your problem ^_^
Answer #8
yeah it sounds like a driver problem, dl the driver for your ethernet card via dell’s website.
Answer #9
I do not know where to download the ethernet driver.
, when I try to access the Network setup wizard, it tells me I have to install and configure my network cards befor I can run the wizard.
Shouldnt the “Local are connection status” Image appear when I connect a cable to the netword adapter? Its not appearing when I connect it to my Dell.
Answer #10
Do you happen to have a CD that came with your Mother Board? If you do then use it to install the drivers from there.
Answer #11
so none of these worked? (under network)
