IDM choppy

August 4th, 2016

I’ve been using IDM for many months now and it always worked fine, just as advertised.
Recently I reformated my computer and installed a new version of IDM.
I noticed that the downloads dont download as .. smoothly as they used to.
Its still just as fast, but I’ve noticed while watching the download screen.
Than the % complete will jump up a half or full %s. And that the speed will just jump from 500kbps to 200 then back to 500.
I know IDM fluctuates normaly, but it used to do this rapidly and in general even out.
It seems for some reason this one is getting…. stuck or hanging on the speeds. Also that the % complete doesn’t seem to go in an ordered fashion randomly jumping up so many %
Any ideas whats causing this? … and how to fix it?
Many thanks
Bullet

its either your isp playing silly buggers (i know mine throttles rs.com if the load on the system gets too high) or your hard drives suddenly not able to keep up with writing the downloaded data. whilst a download is running, goto control panel -> performance information and tools -> advanced -> performance monitor and under disk performance, sort by both read speed and write speed to see whats using your disk the most

I’ll give that disc performance thing a try…
Although you might be right with the ISP. Sky was normaly consistant with the speeds and such.
Checked Speedtest.net and I never seem to get the same result twice.
Anywhere from 2Mb/s to 6 Problem with the router maybe? … Or just Sky being … *Cough* you know whats lol

probably not a problem with the router, but give it a reboot just to check

Mine does the same, it used to be fine.
I put it down to the ISP in the end…(after days of messing around!)

Dont watch youtube videos then!!!
Answer #6
I dont watdh all that many youtube vids, it was poor consistancy on RS that was annoying me. Ah well. Hopefully Sky will get their act together soon and it’ll go back to normal
Thanks for all the suggestions
