Acer TravelMate 4000WLMI Laptop

This is my old laptop and I was just wondering if I can upgrade it, Ram etc, or would I just be better off buying a new laptop?
What would the best bits to upgrade?
I just want it to run smoother, Cos atm its lagging with programs.

Well, you first need to find out from acer’s website:
– What Memory is supported
– What hard drives are supported
what you’ll run into for the biggest upgrade is the memory, because this looks like an older laptop and it might not suport the newer (faster) memory modules. therefore u’d have to buy a bigger size of a slow speed, which can be costly, since manufacturers/distrubutors/retailers know that people will pay it.
It might only support 1-2gb’s of memory, 2x512mb or 2x1gb max i’d imagine, but check acer’s site to make sure. and see what speed it supports ddr2/ddr400/800/1033, ect.
hdd’s for laptops aren’t that pricey, a 250gb runs about 80 dollars for a 5400rpm.
if you want high batt life, i recommend the 5400. but if your always plugged in and don’t care about batt life much, pay the extra $ and grab the 7200rpm
can’t upgrade video card for gaming, so forget about gambing
