Hey people!
I just brought I LightScribe drive ‘cos it looks awesome.
I was just wondering can do I the laser burning thingy on a normal disc? thanks!

nope you can’t , you’ have to buy some special discs.
They come with a spefic coating that will get burned when you flip your cd/dvd after burning your data. Just search for ‘DVD LightScribe’ in google

You just need to buy a lightscribe disc and then you can burn to your hearts content.

Be warned – it takes about 35 mins to do. The thing has to do the WHOLE disc, even if you’re just writing “My Porno” on the outside edge!!

I just got one too and am waiting for 5 ebayed special discs to arrive in the morning so I can test it out

There are special disc wherein you can use the lightscribe technology with!

i use Memorex DVD+R by 10… and never had a problem, however it’s true, it’s kinda slow to “burn” the cover, but it’s worth it.
i’ve also read, that they’re planning some colored discs, no longer golden sides.
