Redhat Linux DSL modem settings

hi guys n geeks
i am using ZTE ZXDSL 831 series DSL modem….when i use redhat linux,,modem ethernet light turns off..means there is no network conenction.its not opening router gateway settings which 192.168.1.1 so can u please tell me how to set it up in redhat linux.
