Buying a new laptop

I am thinking of buying a new laptop. I have never used laptop before, so i don’t know which laptop is better. Plz guide me. I will use this laptop to install vista and Redhat linux. I want 500Gb harddisk and 2+gb of ram. Its better if it has 1000gb of harddisk space
I belong to delhi, and my budget is around 30000 Rupees.

dude with ur budget its a bit difficult to buy a decent laptop
u can do is buy this pc
Compaq Presario CQ40-301TU Notebook PC and buy a external hdd and a extra ram
i dont know how much 30000 Rupees is in euros and google doesnt return the conversion either But im almost sure u cant find a laptop with 1 tera HDD unless u go to high end laptops that have 2 HDD or smthng
Thanks for the reply guys. I can go a little higher in price, if there is a good configuration. I want to know which processor is best, dual core or celeron. I don’t know much abt these technology. Plz tell me in the price range of 30000-35000 rupees.

processor wise there is no comparison between duelcore and celeron
duelcore beats hands down celeron any given day

i dont think you ll get a descent laptop for $600 the one you posted is for 42000 rpees

Thanks for your sugession guys. one thing i wanna ask, c2d processor has a number of series, like 5400 and 74XX. i don’t remeber other name. which one is better. i gorget to ask with the dealer.

just a suggestion. dont mind the ram and hdd. they can be upgraded sooner or later. have an eye for the processor and the graphics card coz they are hardly to be upgraded on a laptop.
