January 27th, 2020

Can u answer these –
1. CAN i install vista or windows 7 by any chance on a FAT32 partition ?
is there no way for doing this ?
+
2. also tell is there a new file system coming on from microsoft in near future ?
+
3. if i install ntfs on 1 partition ie. C drive, and keep fat32 on rest of all of my partitions, will things go any different ? will it be all normal n no issues. as i just wanna keep fat32 on all of my partitions and just install ntfs on c drive in order to install vista or windows 7. bcos all my data is on fat32 partitions n if i convert those partitions to ntfs, i will lose all my data as i dont have another hard drive.
thanks.

Wow…No wonder nobody answered your questions…
It’s simple…Microsoft withdraw support for fat32…That means support for installing on a fat32 partition…..But you can still use your fat32 partitions and use them like normal…You just can’t install vista or windows 7 in them…

Sure, you can partition a new volume with NTFS and install Vista on it.
My advice; back up all the data you need, and switch to NTFS. It is a much better file system for larger volumes.

IF I FORMAT MY C DRIVE AS NTFS and keep all other partitions as fat32, will my OS be able to see all those other d, e, f …. partitions etc. bcos i dont want rest of partitions except c drive to convert to ntfs.
is it alright to do so ? no problems in using this scenario ? but just dont tell me to just format all my partitions as ntfs.
Answer #7
It’s ok…Windows 7 and vista will recognize all partitions..No matter what format they are..fat, fat32 and ntfs…But you can only install Vista or windows 7 on an ntfs partition…That should be simple enough to understand…

thanks

I’m pondering why you would even use FAT32? It’s a clearly outdated filesystem..
And well, replied on everything else.
EDIT: The only reason to EVER use FAT32 is if you have a Mac that’s like before Tiger.

Also, PS3 detects FAT32 formats; doesn’t work with NTFS. So if you have it and wanna watch/listen stuff just format an external HDD to FAT32 and plug it in ur PS3
