How to enhance the performance of windows 7

August 29th, 2013

Hi Everyone,
I am facing very poor performance in my windows 7 as my computer keeps on freezing every now and then while using many applications at the same time and i just get hour glass again and again. I am using Norton Internet Security 2012 which is a 90day version and it did not found any virus. My system was working absolutely fine before and i dont know is there any hidden virus or some unwanted services running in the background.
Is there any application to fix this or any scanner to check that issue. Dial a fix is not compatible with Win7.
Thanks in advance

Answer #1
1st step: uninstall norton internet security 2012

3rd step: install tuneup utilities 2012

your HDD could be dying.

Do a scan for any bad sectors using HDD regenerator. It will repair them too.

Stating your OS is running poorly without giving hardware specs is useless.

1GB on Seven should not make any freeze, in general use may go a bit slower than using 2GB but is going to work fine.
On Games or heavy programs there is a different thing.
You may have a big issue with your antivirus (try uninstalling it) or even a driver making trouble.
Answer #8
Win7 with only 1GB of memory and the resource hoggy Norton is not a good combination.
Ditch 7 and go with XP or add some more RAM.
Answer #9
get rid of Norton and go with AVG internet security
Answer #10
1.Upgrade RAM..core 2 duo is fine.
2.Install Tune-up utilities, it will show recommendation for a better performance..

but it will make it slow nevertheless i should know i tried it with my old P4 !
Answer #12
Yes, but should not freeze, i even installed it on a Pentium III 1300MHz 768MB PC133.
Slow, but never hang.
Answer #13
There is hardly any difference between XP and 7 once you go basic. Also big lol at Gjoksi – Uninstall ~love~, install different ~love~. If you really want performance on that laptop you need to uninstall any antivirus you have, then get you ass over to BlackViper’s site and follow this guide:

if its using all the RAM then getting data via HDD. then it will freeze for a sec.
but i still think the HDD is dying.
Answer #15
Tuneup Utilities has a disk doctor that you can run on your HDD.
Answer #16
Run Seagate tools http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=seatools-win&vgnextoid=552bd20cacdec010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD
Echo comments about anti-virus. AVG free is fine and they do a good pc tune-up tool too.
Please do get an another 1GB ram! It will make a huge difference – trust me on this.

1). Uninstall Norton, and get something light-weight like Eset. Similarly get MalwareBytes for malware detection.
2). Download HD Sentinel and check if your HDD is okay.
3). Install TuneUp Utilities and CCleaner and do a system cleanup/maintenance. Also remove any unnecessary apps from the system, they maybe running at the background sucking a lot of juice.
4). Increase the size of page file.

I think is more software related, but i dont discard a failing hard disk.
Answer #19
try defragging your pc as well.
use auslogics defrag program
works a treat for me

Might be a good idea to re-seat the cable that runs from your hard drive to the motherboard or replace it if you have another available.
Had a similar problem myself. It was obviously getting weak data transfer.
A connector clean and a new cable (Sata in my case) did the trick.
