Space in Hard Disk LOst

Last nite,i try to add 20gb to my c: using paragon partition manager..but then,it took me a very long tyme n i exit from it..but then,when i check my c:..it still had the same space while my 20 gb are lost..i try check back using the partition manager n also disk management at windows..but there is no trace of dat remaining space…n my partition manager only detect my hdd only have 230gb(suppose 250gb)..can any kind soul help me in solving dz probT_T..

check that the space is un-allocated with Pragon though i suggest to change it to Acronis Disk director (less chance of HDD failure).

That sounds about right…My 300 GB HD shows as 279 GB in windows…

i check already,all the unallocated space in my hdd had being turned into new partition..but when i sum all of it,still it’s only shows 230gb..

but bfore i do the process as i mention in my first post,my total space is 250gbT_T…me sadT_T

Give GParted a go and see if you can find it. Easy to use. Just burn the ISO to a disc and boot from it. http://gparted.sourceforge.net/

, the 250GB that manufacturers advertise is raw data space. After partitioning and formatting a hard drive you loose raw space on the drive to account for the boot sector and file allocation table (FAT), I can’t remember the name for the NTFS tables but they are there, Also with the release of Win 2k you lost 8GB at the end of the drive for private use by windows, you could use a partition manager to eliminate that 8GB but it is not recommended. A 9 to 10% loss of space is normal for every drive. In the fine print of every hard drive (either on the box or in a pamphlet) there is a declaration saying something along the lines that the advertised space is raw data, actual data size will very depending on the format and Operating system used.

As far as the hard drive manufacturer is concerned: 1GB = 1000 MB

oh,but why is it bfore i hv 250gb stated in my windows?n only after i try to do partitioning my hdd had become 230gb?btw,thnx for teh info..im glad that people here in are so helpful:D
