[solved] disable pc speaker?
August 8th, 2016
before anyone suggests it i don’t want to open the case and just unplug it. stupid warranty stickers won’t let me in…
That’s the only way. Open and unplug. Sorry man.
the only way i can think of without opening the case is the following :
In Device Manager click View and click “Show hidden devices”
In Device Manager goto Non-Plug and Play Drivers
Expand Non-Plug and Play Drivers by clicking the plus. Search for a device that is called “Beep”. Double click it and on the tab Drivers you can disable it. Afaik this will only disable the internal speaker once Windows starts loading. So the small beeps will still remain there when you first power up the pc. Im not sure if you know but these beeps are quite usefull especially when there’s a hardware related problem. They will warn you that something is going bad, and most of the time will even tell you which component in your computer is having issues.
A
so where do i find out what they mean? i guess i could read the manual that came with my board
ok thanks for the replies. i’ll have to live with it. it just seems really loud in the morning with other people are trying to sleep and i turn my computer on…
the beeps depend on the bios manufacturer. But some standard ones you can find here :

you mean the post beep? You can disable it if you dont mind opening up the pc. I think it uses its own mini-speaker rather than 3rd party ones. It should be something attached to the case, just un-plug the wire. Just note the post beep is there to say the pc works fine
i’ll just have to deal with it, my pc came with a full 3 year warranty that is void if i break the stickers on the case. it’s not worth it
