Can I update a rooted Droid X?

Is it okay to update my rooted droid x? I don’t want to mess anything up. I keep getting the update notification, and it’s annoying and I do like to have my stuff always up to date. Will it just take off all the super user permissions when I update? Should I go ahead and uninstall all the apps that require super user permissions?

Why are you still on the stock ROM after rooting? Install CM7 or MIUI or some other AOSP and call it a day.
