Overheating GFX Card

January 23rd, 2020

Alright, this is my current setup:
AMD 64 X2 Dual core 6000+(3,0ghz)
2GB DDR2 RAM @ 800 MHZ (PC6400) – Corsair
ASUS X1950 PRO 256MB GDDR3 – Ati gfx (Current)
Windows XP – 32bit
So, since i have some problems with my current GFX(overheating), i gave up. I returned the card from the store i got it, and they told me they had run a series of test, and said that there is nothing wrong with the card. And obviously they are lying.
On this very same system, i tried out another GFX Card (since mine was sent for service), it was the 8800GT with 512MB GDDR3 RAM, by Asus aswell.
The main problem with my current graphic card is that, when i play heavy games, like Call of Duty 5 (not that heavy, but one of them), it just starts making an annoying sound like its gonna blow up. I ran some tempature controlling, and obviously, Everst was measuring the heat as high as 120 degrees celcius.
So with the other card i was trying the same game, same program etc. It didnt go that high, and most important of all, it didnt make that annoying sound, like its gonna blow.
When i play smaller games, i never hear the sound, only happens on heavier loadings.
I tried to lower the Graphics settings in COD5, to the lowest possible, still didnt help.
I have already updated drivers, formatted windows, cleaned for dust, and currently i have 5 80x80mm fans ventilating the whole case, so i just dont understand why its overheating.
2 of them are directly ventilating my GFX card.
And since the store told me nothing is wrong with it, what am i supposed to do?
If anyone can suggest me a new card, that would be fine aswell. Budget is 230$.
Thanks

Install Riva Tuner, Evga Precision, or some sort of fan control program and increase the fan speed of your video card. IF you have hte 8800GT, generally increase the fan speed to 50-70%.

Well, the 8800GT is not mine, its my brothers, so i cant take it :p
But i will try what you mentioned, thanks.

first of , its normal for modern GFX cards to run in
extremely high temperatures,112 is too hot i agree with that
but generally speaking its not unusual for such cards to top at 100-105 C
i agree its overheating yes,but its really not as bad as you describe
considering high temps are normal as said ^ , a new card is not needed really
you just need a new vga cooler,i can recommend one , now i noticed you mentioned dollars
but how am i suppost to know if thats usa/australia/canada ones? from what country your from?

Well, i live in Denmark, but i thought it might would have made it easier for people to tell you the budget in Dollars.
Here we use DKK (Danish kroners).
Anyway, which cga cooler is this?
Btw, it was a typo, not 112, i meant 120 degrees :/

Well, thats just a cost of the BIG 8 slice pizza Anyway, thanks a lot, i will try to get my hands on it, and hopefully it will fix it.
But the sounds are just annoying as hell, trust me.
I have a big set of speakers (Logitech Z5500 – they are nice btw(showoff)), and even though i have the volume very high up, i can still hear that damn sound.
Its like this:
*Diiiiiiit*
*DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT*
*DIIIT* *DIIIIIIT* *DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT*
Just keeps going like that.
