Saving game files on PS2

Whenever I try to save while playing different PSX games (I’m playing them on a PS2) I get a message that the Memory Card slot is empty.
Is there any way I can save? Thanks for answers

I tried saving while playing Crash Bandicoot 2 and 3.

sadly you need a ps1 memory card to save ps1 games. ps2 memory cards can only hold ps2 saved game files.

u have the backup or the real game sometimes becuase of the burn game not all the data is written on it

actually not a big deal. just look on ebay and you can find a really cheap ps1 memory card for like $.99
