Windows Movie maker crash issue

Start ‘Task Manager’ (Ctrl-Alt-Del). Select the program in the ‘Applications’ tab and click ‘End Task’.
One of the codecs you have installed probably needs to be updated. If by any chance the file is using DviX or XviD you probably need to get the latest version as they may have fixed a bug which can be one of the problems associated with crashing. There is the chance also that the file could be corrupt and if so that can also cause it to hang up.
I also recommend downloading and installing the full k-lite codec pack:

You know you can also just use Roxio its way better in my opinion.
I already have the newest version of k-lite installed. And can you link to the Roxio thing you are talking about?
