Not Sure which Partition to use when installing win7 on acer

August 12th, 2020

im installing win 7 on an acer laptop that has 2 partitions, and it has 2 seperate hard drives, each partition is on a different hard drive,
“Disk 0 Partition 1:ACER 69.6gb -free space 26.2gb SYSTEM”
“Disk 0 Partition 2:DATA 69.6gb -Free space 32.7gb PRIMARY”
im not sure on which partition to install,im doing a clean wipe install,
also do i format both partitions?

Answer #1
I’m not an expert but I would assume that you would wan to move any files you want to keep to partition 2, format partition 1, then install on it.
Answer #2
windows vista is installed on partition 1,also my pc is infected,so do i have to format both hard drives,or just the one that has windows on it?

If there’s a virus I would recommend formatting both.
Answer #4
ACER is the recovery partition for using the built in restore software.
Answer #5
thanks everyone! i formatted both drives and installed on acer, worked like a charm!
Answer #6
Yeah, I was going to recommend not deleting your recovery drive just in case you might need it (lose your OS DVD, and have no access to the internet).. But that’s too late now.
Answer #7
Actually you would only have one physical hard drive (Disk 0 ) with 2 partitions..

"Disk 0 Partition 1:ACER 69.6gb -free space 26.2gb SYSTEM"
"Disk 0 Partition 2:DATA 69.6gb -Free space 32.7gb PRIMARY"
