(SOLVED) Help configuring HDD

February 6th, 2020

Ok, the problem is that when I try to install windows XP, it gives me a message that it cant find HDD! Motherboard is asus k8v x se , and HDD is Maxtor.
I tried installing windows 7, and it installed ok! Recognized the hard drive, and it works ok, but again, when I insert XP installation CD, it doesnt recognize HDD! It seems to be some problem with RAID settings, or something…. Here are some pictures to help solve this problem:
The way its connected to motherboard:

This is how it looks in BIOS:

And when I enter RAID settings (here I cant change anything):

So, anybody can help me?? Windows 7 installs ok, but I cannot leave it, this PC has only 512 MB of RAM, and I’d really like to install XP on it, but it just wont install, wont recognize HDD…. What do I do??

Answer #1
Look for an SATA mode settings in BIOS and set it to IDE/Compatibility.
Edit: I downloaded your mobo’s manual and it appears it doesn’t have such a settings. Your gonna to integrate the SATA driver pack to your XP CD. See this post:

Thank you friend, what you suggested did the trick, and the problem is solved! Downloaded another version of XP sp3 with integrated SATA drivers, and it works like a charm!
