water damaged laptop

About two days back some tap water over-spilled onto my laptop, I continued using my laptop at the time, thinking it was just a minor thing. (realised I should of turned it off now)
Anyway after the laptop started to make some weird sound noises, the laptop froze, at that time I forced closed it, took the battery out, and left it off till the next morning.
In the next morning, I thought my laptop had it, as it said there was a problem with the internal clock and something to do with the USB, after that it did not start-up again for a while.
Several hours later out-of-the blue, it started loading again, and Windows started to work, however one thing that still does not work to this day (2 days) is the right mouse button. I am wondering if you think this is a motherboard problem, and how easy it might be to fix, or otherwise. (might be cheaper to buy a new laptop?)
Also I wonder am I likely to get some more melt-functions later on, due to this water damage, or the fact the laptop now loads shows that the damage is minimal (although annoying), and should not affect me later on.

Water conducts electricity and could cause short-circuits! If I were you, I’d open it up for inspection, There could still be water in it!
Just search for your laptop’s service/maintenance manual, It’d have exact instructions
on how to open it. Use a a towel for smooth surfaces and q-tips for surfaces that have soldering joints, Maybe a hair dryer too. While your at it, Disconnect/Reconnect the touchpad cable as well.
If the right button still doesn’t work after your done, Then try uninstalling the touchpad from device manager and restarting, If the issue remains, Then that would indicate the problem is physical. But there’s really no need to buy a new laptop just because the touchpad has issues, Just use a USB mouse (They’re far more comfortable to use anyhow!)
It was only a tiny bit of water, so I thought just a wipe of the keyboard will do, haha, Thans for the advice
Would a physical problem, mean its something to do with the motherboard, or is it something simple to change?
I don’t always use my laptop on a desk, hence a mouse would not be of much benefit
It’d mean it’s either the touchpad cable or the motherboard, Both are replaceable btw (Just look up the part number on ebay) and start with the cable. Also, You should use a Linux Live CD just to verify it’s indeed a physical problem. But it could still be just a loose cable, So there’s still hope!
By not using it on a desk, You mean you just put it on your bed and lay around with it? I thought only girls do that, Or is there something you forgot to mention?
hahaha, nope I am sure some guys do it as well, especially when watching TV on it anyway… (I also tried switching the functions of the two keys, which again only the left button worked)
