Verticle Lines in Video w/ VLC Media Player?

August 6th, 2016

Please help, occasionally while playing video files on the VLC media player I will get a row of about 6 vertical blue-ish lines left of center. I’m seeing this with mp-4 files. Odd because VLC always acts like a rock solid player compared to Microsoft’s Media Player. Should I avoid mp4? Here is an image of my troubles:

Answer #2
I’ll try PotPlayer, and updating VLC… but it’s had this problem for a few years now.
Answer #3
system specs ?
CPU & video card ?
Answer #4
It’s definitely not the latest and greatest, but my problems are very rare:
Dell Vostro
Windows XP Home SP3, Intel Core2 Duo CPU T570 @ 1.40Ghz, 2.5GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
Answer #5
is this on all videos or only Mp4 ones?. are the videos playing mostly downloded ones or personal?
Answer #6
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
you might also try updating your driver with the latest from nvidia
Answer #7
OK, It’s very odd because these lines happen randomly, but only with mp4 files, and then only some of those. The majority of all files including mp4 play perfectly, but about %40 of the mp4s have this problem. And, it’s not like I can play the exact same file today with errors, and tomorrows no errors. If the video downloaded is having problems, it will always have the problem. I just don’t understand why one Mp4 plays, while another has problems. I will see if there’s a NVIDIA update.
Oh… and all the problem videos are downloaded videos.
Answer #8
check your video card temp or does the lappy get hot when playing those videos ?
but about %40 of the mp4s have this problem.
get “mediainfo” and see if you can find a difference between good & “bad” file specs

you mentioned that all problem videos are problem …make sure you check the .nfo included inside or any details of the video before downloading…or for checking sake…download from somewhere else and try if that video works properly then you definately know there is problem with the original downloader you download from…

just get http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/KLite-Codec-Pack-Full/1094057842/3 its way way better then vlc player i have never had any problems with it ever and videos look much better then when i play in vlc player and using k-lite uses 0% of my cpu even on 1080p videos Image
but in vlc player it uses 5% to 12% cpu
Answer #11
Use KM Player
Answer #12
using k-lite uses 0% of my cpu even on 1080p videos
that’s (the screen shot) Media Player Classic (MPC-HC) included in K-lite and is available standalone
if you want to try it you can get it here to be sure you are getting the latest
http://mpc-hc.org/
this is also a stand-alone player, you don’t need all the other stuff K-lite installs
