My built in mouse wont work, How can I fix it?

My built in mouse wont work on my laptop, How can I fix it? I have windows vista. A mouse will work if I plug one in but not the built in one on the laptop. Please help me fix this problem. I would appreciate it, Its a Toshiba laptop as well.

Still dont know how to fix it. I have Windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite L875D-S7230

^^^^ Check the BIOS settings …. on my wife’s lappy you can turn the touchpad off there. Also, download the touchpad software/drivers if you can find it and re-instal it.

I don’t want to mess with the bios that’s how I screwed up my laptop the last time.

One can always reset BIOS to default settings; no harm in that: Might even appreciate it….lolz
Or uninstall the TP driver (not the software) via Device Manager and reboot the machine.
