Firewire

January 22nd, 2020

Hi!
I have a problem and I hope someone can help!
I have just bought a Sony HVR Camera, and it uses MiniDV and Firewire to put the footage onto PC, but my PC doesn’t have Firewire
How can I get the footage onto my PC?
Thanks!

You don’t really need more than 1 port, I have 3 port boards we bought cheap for my business, and in all the time Ihave only used one port.
I use firewire a lot for transferring vids from camcorders, yet newer boards don’t have firewire, but they have stupid e SATA that no person in their right mind would use.
I bought an Asus Rampage IV Extreme mobo – guess what, e SATA but no Firewire 400
In the old days when using USB 2.0, if I had to transfer lots of data between Maxtor external HDD’s it was a little slower using firewire but it was more stable and reliable. You can also daisy chain firewire peripherals.
