Microphone creating weird sounds

My laptop makes weird sounds when I use my microphone. The sounds are hard to describe, but sound static-like, to almost like my laptop is being flushed down a toilet. This happens regardless of using the built in, or an external mic. The sound stops when I mute my microphone. My laptop model is an Acer Aspire 7741g.

Are all your sound card drivers and/or chipset drivers up to date?

check settings & unselect listen to this device

All my drivers are up to date for the chipset and sound card. Windows is not listening to the device, but when I turn that on, I can hear the weird voices. It sounds like aliens are trying to contact me!

Really this is annoying the crap out of everyone I skype with. They usually describe it as sounds from Transformers movie. If I wanted to troll I’d go on 4chan or some other website. I can prove it to you if you want to try skyping with me.

yeah this used to happen to me too. I assume its a jack on the end of the mic, not a usb cable? I had a dell laptop that i couldn’t use with a jack mic and plugged into the ac, as it would give me really bad crackling and hiss. No ac it worked fine. Just bad design. USB mic worked fine.
Make sure that you turn off the internal mic, as that could be interfering. If you can try a usb mic…
Check the mic in another laptop or computer to rule out that its broken.

I just went over to my friend’s house and found out his USB headset fixed the problem. Is there a way I can convert my speaker and microphone jacks into USB?

possible interference or background noise? do you have other devices on TV speakers or otherwise? try another room.
