Websites that sell Laptops with no OS’s pre-installed?
January 26th, 2020
But it’s also so I don’t have to spend on extra costs for the pre-installed OS. I was wondering if anyone knew of such websites that sells such a thing?
Try this link, a forum post containing lots of site for laptops without OS. I didn’t check the links, that’s up to you.

You should also be able to specify to any seller that you don’t want win8 – just say that you don’t agree to MS terms and conditions and it’s illegal for them to put the OS in with that statement.
You should also get it some 100 cheaper.
Sometimes laptops with OSes preinstalled are cheaper than those without. Just find the most economical deal for you regardless of the OS then put what you want by yourself.

When I try this (because I hate pre-installed windows) they never drop the price……They tell me pre-installed windows costs them nothing anyway….

Yeah, some will try that.
I doubt it’s as much as the 100 I quoted – no discs, etc, but it HAS to cost them something – do they really expect people to believe than MS give it away free?
(Maybe they are pirating it out?)
^No there are promotional packages MS makes deals with big brands and it is actually very cost-friendly to have a laptop with say, Win8 preinstalled. As I stated, sometimes it even costs less than to put DOSBox or Ubuntu to it. The OS is part of the offer as much as anything else. If you don’t like MS TOS, then you don’t get the LAPTOP, the whole package, but the merchant can’t remove the OS.
Edit: FreeDOS, not DOSBox sorry lol!
That’s how they do it, yes, but it’s a scam.
There is no legal tie from the OS to the hardware. The merchant won’t remove the OS.. not “can’t”.
Of course, they have every right to refuse to sell you something.. but that tale is not truth.
Even if MS gave away windows free as part of a marketing deal, you should be able to buy a laptop bare-bones (you just wouldn’t get any money off).

There is no legal tie for any component of a laptop. But the retailer CAN’T remove the OS. A wholesales seller, the X company, big brand name, let’s call them HELL, comes and gives them an him an offer. This laptop, this this and that blah blah blah. FreeDos. 305$
Same components, Win8 280$ AS IS. The retailer receives it as a part of an offer and CANNOT change anything on it. When it happens like that (which is approx 97% of the transactions today), there IS a legal tie.

You’re possibly right – I know how these sneaky buggers tie up things with “agreements” and “bonuses”..
not sure what country you are in but try here ……………
