if you want to share Brod band connection then hide IP sharing PC. main server automatic create own IP 192.168.0.1
If you want to play CS then try with himachi. is the best way.

yes Himachi no need if Play Offline Local Network. Just create server and other user join him. if you play Online with your friends then need Himachi.

i and my friends have a internet connection from our local cable service provider...
Well, this was confusing. Are you saying you live in different places, and have different internet connections?
If that is what you mean, then you are not on a LAN, you are both connecting via WAN.
Therefore you need to do what |Leader| said and use Hamachi, then connect with the Hamachi IP.
Answer #5
does hamachi work without internet ….that is can it convert LAN over WAN …without needing to connect to internet

What are you talking about? If your on a LAN connection, you don’t need Hamachi or Internet.
If you are not on a LAN, how do you expect to connect to someone else with out internet? Magic?
Hamachi converts LAN over WAN, but there is no WAN with out internet;
You completely contradicted your self there =(
PS: You can Google ‘LAN’ and ‘WAN’ if you don’t know what they are, as well as anything else you want to know, including the answer to this topic you made..!

i am on a cable connection with my friends,…i dont know if its LAN or WAN…its just that we can connect to each other through “My Network Places”…we can share files….but cannot connect in counter strike…..
we have both our firewalls off….
PS.. maybe we are not using the correct version….please let me know of links of a working version cs 1.6 (protocol 47, 48 whatever) on LAN
