how to install mac os x maverics

Hi,
I’ve windows 8.1 hp laptop with 1tb hdd and 12 gb ram. i’ve vmware workstation 10 installed. i downloaded a mac 0s x maverics and want to install in my virtual machine. but the image is in .arc format and is unrecognisable by VMware. Even there is no option for max os on vmware. can somone pls let me know how to install this on my virtual machine?
