can i put flappy bird(from bb) onto my nexus 7 or does it have to be hacked/chipped first?

that’s easy
android doesn’t need to be “hacked” like iOS does for iphones. Simply go into settings > security > tick the box next to “allow aps from untrusted sources”
put the apk on the device, use a file manager to browse to the location and install it. All done
the device only needs to be “rooted” as it is called on android if there is gamedata involved that needs to be put on the device
