laptop windows 8 reinstall

It came with windows 8 and the operating system is completely inoperable.
Since it has a legal version of windows, what do I really need to do to successfully reinstall windows?
I assume I’ll have to download a copy of windows 8, but I see no windows serial number on the back of the laptop.
short of using windows loader, how do I install windows again?

The ACER should have a hidden partition holding a system restore to take it back to factory state… obviously if this partition has been deleted then…
