No sound when playing PC game on my TV

August 5th, 2013

I am using my Samsung 32 inch 1080p TV as a second monitor when playing a PC game. I have an HDMI cable running from the PC’s graphics card to the TV but I don’t get any sound from the TV.
Answer #1
What is make/model of graphics card?
Answer #2
I had an AMD Radeon HD 6450 1 GB and I had the PC connected to the TV and which I was using as the main monitor when playing a PC game and sound was coming from the TV. When I connected the main monitor to the PC I no longer got sound coming from the TV when playing a PC game. I just recently got an XFX Radeon HD 6870 1 GB DDR5 graphics card but haven’t tried using the TV as a second monitor with the new graphics card.
Answer #3
Dunno, I would have thought it just a matter of selecting amd hd sound..
Answer #4
Even when using my Samsung TV as a second monitor there should be sound coming from it especially since I am using an HDMI cable. If I wasn’t using an HDMI cable then no sound would come from the TV.
Answer #5
I’m sorry, you have to manually select it. Go to Playback Devices (right click on your volume icon) and set it to HDMI out.
Answer #6
Don’t you need a connection from the audio card (or motherboard output connector) to the GCard for hdmi sound output?
I always thought you did – connecting one in has always worked for me.
Answer #7
Make sure all your drivers are up to date, make sure the connection is secure, also if the HDMI cable is in fact working condition. Go into control panel>hardware and sound>playback>select your tv HDMI device and make it default. All else fails use external speakers..

Also in your tv settings, make sure you plugged the HDMI cable in the HDMI PC port/slot. Make sure it’s an enabled device through your tv settings.
