[Solved] Utorrent is slowing down my Internet speed

August 4th, 2016

Just by having the app active, without downloading/uploading, my internet speed is 2-4 mbps and when I exit the client it goes to my full 8 mpbs. I can’t even use my cell or lap top or any other device at full Internet speed when Utorrent is sitting active.
I accidentally found out it was Utorrent that was eating up my Internet speed, and I have been arguing with my ISP for months, I even planned to sue them because it was the same speed with other devices as well, BUT my desktop pc is on almost all day and Utorrent is active.
Using uTorrent Pro 3.4.3 build 40298

When you have torrents active at μtorrent it’s uploading content constantly, greatly reducing the speed of any request for connection you send and therefore download speeds too. Is that the case or do you suspect something more? Cap your uploads and get a firewall (or netlimiter) to check among which programs is your bandwidth being shared.

Bloated crap, uninstall and try version 2.2.1 (and disable updates), since then its been filled with crap.

Yes, that was the case.. I limited the upload speed and it’s working fine now. Thank you!

True, but I’m using it without any problems and offers / bloatware are easy to disable via advanced settings (at least for the free version, without the streaming option) . None of these will bring a bandwidth reduction, I assure you.
Edit: Ninja’d by OP, glad you’ve solved it.
