New PC Audio problem

August 6th, 2016

I just bought new PC and I have problem with the audio.
when I click on the audio icon, it shows two devices:
s27d590-4 (NIVIDIA high definition Audio)
Realtek Digital Output (Realtek High Definition Audio)
Note that s27d590-4 is the monitor model.
Also, when I check the sound settings, it shows many devices Not Plugged In
I can not get the audio working. does anybody know how to solve this.
Thanks in advance

NIVIDIA high definition Audio is the HDMI audio output..
Realtek High Definition Audio is you built in sound card..
If you have you stereo or what ever connected to you soundcard..You need to go control panel > hardware and sound…Then sound and set the Realtek set as default..

I have done that but still does not work.
I think it has something to with the “not plugged in” Nividia hdmi output

Mate how do you connect? If you want audio from your monitor speakers you have to connect it via a HDMI cable; the way it is now you’ve enabled the jack port of your PC, plug some earphones there and see if you can hear anything. See if anything is set on “mute” setting and in general follow this checklist:

i assume you connected them wrong , Jack_Torrance also mentioned it. when you connect your gpu to monitor via hdmi and your monitor have audio output. windows automatically set monitors as speakers. if you want to use monitor as speakers , you should choose your monitor as default from sound options.
if you have your own stereo speakers for example 1+1 , you should choose Speakers from the list as default but remember , speaker option wouldnt show up until you plug in your speakers to the blue port at the back of the case via mini jack. realtek digital output is totally something different else , it cant be used either with monitor or standard speakers , it requires the type of connector which i have given below.
https://en.wikipedia.org/?title=S/PDIF
the devices are on the list only appears as you connect them. for example if you dont connect gpu via hdmi to a monitor , it writes nvidia audio bla bla on the list , when you connect , it changes into your monitor’s model and name as an option.
in order to get sound from speakers , install latest realtek drivers either from their site or your motherboard’s page driver downloads.
then connect your speakers via blue mini jack port at the back of the your case with this connector
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phone_connector_%28audio%29
go to sound options and set newly appeared speakers as your default.

for additional info , when you see “digital” term it means , it can only be used via specific type of cables or connectors such as hdmi , display port or S/PDIF which i mentioned above.
when you plug in speakers to the blue port via phone connector , it will be analog not digital. you may say i wanna use digital for better performance but it is not like that for standard consumers. for sound capability of speakers is the most important thing. as a result an analog connection to a good speaker gives you better quality than the digital connection on mediocre monitor speakers. keep in mind most of monitor speakers are totally useless.
this was for a standard consumer , if audio is important for you and you deal with many things related to it. you need to buy a separate audio card with digital outputs , as well as very powerful and expensive speakers which have digital inputs.

I have fixed the problem from Realtek HD Audio Manager from Control Panel.
I switched the options of playback Devices to “make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously”.
Thank you all for the help.
