Transfer movies to iPad
January 28th, 2024
I use VLC, but beware, the latest version does not support AC3 sound ( I still use older version 2.3.1 which does support it, easily available if you are Jailbroken)
No conversion necessary, it plays all just like on PC.
But if you are not jailbroken, you would need to convert the audio, otherwise, it’s silent.
Thanks. Someone suggested PlayerXtreme Media Player. Have you used it? And would there be a simple way to connect my (Windows) computer to the iPad… physically if possible?
To transfer stuff, you need to connect the data cable and use iTunes (or alternatively iFunBox) to put the files into the player app. iTunes needs to be installed either way.
I have not tried PlayerXtreme, but I guess any player that plays many formats will work just fine.
I’d recommend buying AVPlayer HD, ive been using it for years and it hasn’t failed me yet. There’s no need to convert your videos to .mp4, because AVPlayer HD play almost any video you throw at it…includin .mkv’s downloaded from here

Thanks. This also caught my eye. Especially for the transfer issue (which is my main concern). Know it?

I prefer VLC player because its awesome, No hanging issue and High quality video results + Sound is good though.
Convert to Mp4
Open iTunes
Connect iDevice using charger cable to the computer
iDevice is detected
Go to itunes/file /add file (or folder) to library
Click on the film icon at top of itunes which will open the movie folder in itunes
Left click and hold on film(s) you want in your iDevice, drag them to the left of iTunes until a slider opens and you see the name of your device
let the mouse button go so movie drops on device name.
Thats as simple as I can put it, you’ll work it out. If you can use windows you’ll figure the rest out.
As for viewing. I have no idea why people would install VLC (not that its a bad app) but its way to complicated for novice users, we are talking about someone that doesn’t even know how to add a movie to a device, so keep it simple ffs. The iDevice video is just fine, perfect if its a newer device for viewing movies.
Forget that, jailbreak and use kodi and stream. Also, if you don’t want to jailbreak, look at ipastore. Good luck.
He’s going to be offline, no streaming possible.
But otherwise I agree, Kodi is awesome, with the TVADDONS stuff, especially Genesis. Just discovered that last week
Connect iDevice using charger cable to the computer
iDevice is detected
This caught my eye. I’ll have to figure out how that works (I’ve installed iTunes on my PC).
P.S. Thanks everyone, for the suggestions.
