Recommendations on CPU/Mobo

I’m looking to rebuild parts of my computer soon. I’m looking for a decent CPU/mobo. I will only be shopping Newegg.com.
Here is the CPU i am looking at. My budget for the CPU is around 150-250 USD.

What do you think of this CPU? Or should I fork out some extra cash and get an i7? I don’t know what to do lol.
Also whats a good mobo? I’m confused on what socket type I need and such.
Also, I forgot to mention its going to be a gaming rig so will a 700W power box be enough to run say a GTX XXX series card and the mobo/cpu?
Please help.

i5 2500k is the game price for preformace cpu u can get in my opinion it is fantastic. easy to overclock and not much diffrence between 15 2500k and 17 2600k when gaming etc…. like very few fps change. and yes 700w will easilly be enough
and dont rule out ati i have a 6950 its awsome…. but a 560ti is ok too

thanks ker91 for you input. Do you have a mobo recommendation? and 700w will be enough for justa bout any ATI/nVidia gfx card?
