Biostar Motherboard Help

Replacing a motherboard for a friend, bought a Biostar A780L ver 6.. because it is supposed to be compatible with an Athlon 64×2 dual core 5000+ (ADO5000IAA5DO).
Turned it on and it gives me an error message ‘THE MAX POWER OF THE CPU IS OVER 125W – PREPARE TO SHUTDOWN’ and it does so after about 8 seconds.
So tried it with another Athlon 64×2 dual core, this time a 3800+(ADO3800IAA5CU) also compatible according to the Biostar web site, and get the same error message.Both these are supposed to have a TDP of 65W so why the error?
Biostar offer a bios update programme on their site but it only seems to work in a windows enviroment, can’t get into windows or past this error message so what can I do?
Present bios ver is 08.00.14

seeing the both CPU’s are supported on their list did you try contacting Biostar support
you try a BIOS reset with the “reset_cmos” jumper

Contact Biostar, and evade from buying their products ever again.
Stick with the usual gigabyte, asus, MSI, etc…

I have never owned a AMD system but it sounds like a obvious heat problem to me.
After skimming this board’s manual, here are some tips I found that you can take or leave.

From the motherboard manual:
If the system shutdowns automatically after power on system for seconds, that means the CPU protection function has been activated.
When the CPU is over heated, the motherboard will shutdown automatically to avoid a damage of the CPU, and the system may not power on again.
In this case, please double check:
1. The CPU cooler surface is placed evenly with the CPU surface.
2. CPU fan is rotated normally.
3. CPU fan speed is fulfilling with the CPU speed.
After confirmed, please follow steps below to relief the CPU protection function.
1. Remove the power cord from power supply for seconds.
2. Wait for seconds.
3. Plug in the power cord and boot up the system.
Or you can:
1. Clear the CMOS data.
(See “Close CMOS Header: JCMOS1” section)
2. Wait for seconds.
3. Power on the system again.

BIOS setting checks:
In the BIOS in the CPU tab under “Advanced” the A780L is suppose to have C1E Support.
When enabled; this function helps to save power and decrease heat by lowering CPU frequency.
In the “Smart Fan Calibration” BIOS will auto test and detect the CPU/System fan functions and show CPU/System fan speed as well as allow you to change settings.
In the “H/W Health Function” BIOS will allow you to adjust CPU shutdown temperature.
In the BIOS under the “Performance” tab you can set the CPU clocking, core speed, and voltage settings.
The southbridge has a Clock gating feature.

Sending it back from whenst it came and ordered a Gigabyte board instead
