Honestly the first step is the cheapest and least obvious. Intel chips slow down as the heat level climbs until such time as it will stop and then shut down. It prevents the chip from a meltdown and trashing all components in the process. Take a can of compressed air and after ensuring the system is completely powered down and cord removed from case clean the fans and vents completely. Remove and reseat the RAM. Safe mode prevents most of the peripherial apps from starting up, demanding more from the processor which in turn generates heat.
If this is not the solution the culprit is a either a virus or another form of malware wreaking havoc from one of the aps not starting up in safe mode. The first step is the easiest and most time efficient as well as a common reason for the symptoms..at least in my experience.

1. Computer freezes after 5-20 mins into launch, the mouse still moves slowly and the audio gets distorted
Could be a symptom of a buggy audio driver,Get the latest.
flash videos like youtube turn green and display no picture
What browser are you using? Tried a different one? Also try updating flash player to the latest version.
2. graphical glitches on screen
4.Or sometimes instead of freezing my monitor will lose signal to the computer, causing me to restart

Do you have another Monitor or TV to try? If those “glitches” appear on it too,That would mean your video card
has gone bad,FYI in safe mode windows does not use your video card driver,Just a generic one and in 16 colors
so just because it doesn’t happen there it doesn’t mean it’s in good condition.

alright thanks, I don’t think overheating is the problem as my temperature stays at about 40 degrees C. but I’ll definitely check for viruses and malware
EDIT: I scanned with malwarebytes and it has detected viri, I will check the problems after it finishes removing them
1. yes I do own another monitor, I will will try that out
2. I already updated my flash player 3 days ago( I use google chrome)
3. I was already planning to buy a new video card anyway so I will relpace my current one
Answer #4
the video card fan/heatsink clean & working
VCARD may be overheating which might not show up in safe mode
Answer #5
40 C is what it read not in safe mode, but I still think my Video card is messed up and replacing it will probably fix the problem
