Need to open a laptop keyboard

October 24th, 2013

Was going through some mystery CD’s to lable them or throw them out and when I put in a CD, it slid under a space between the drive and the keyboard. Now the keys are acting all crazy and I’m trying to clean this laptop up to give it to my son. I just bought a keyboard which I am not going to give to him, but I’m having a hard time finding the directions on how to open the keyboard without having to get other directions like how to replace the display or change the motherboard which I’m NOT trying to do. If anyone knows of a site, could you please send me the links on precisely how to open the keyboard of a Toshiba Satellite L 505 (ES5011-didn’t get one link with this part added on). Thank you very much!

most of them open from the bottom.
Which means you may need to remove most of the casing to get to it.
Shouldn’t be too hard though, all you’ll need is a small phillips-head or allen-key screwdriver
and a slightly bigger flat-head screwdriver to help pry things apart.
I haven’t pulled this particular one apart, but in my experience, chiclet keys are the only ones that you can undo from the top and this keyboard your referring to, is not a chiclet keyboard.

Yep, the directions I was sent has the person opening it from the top aaand they used a drill to take the screws out. . .hmmm
Thanks for the links and tips, I already had one fall out and I’m hoping the others just fall out too, but I’m thinking that this is what’s wrong with the keyboard right now too so i’m going to have to just lift the keyboard to get the cd’s out.
