xp pro sp3 wont install

July 26th, 2016

no matter what version of xp i try to install it says it cant detect my hard drive.
Thing is there is a hard drive and windows 7 loads so i know its not the hard drive
I have a newish laptop a hp pavilion Dm3 with an athlon neo x2 dual core l335 64 bit.
the hard drive is a segate sata hard drive.
Now if i put the hard drive on my desktop and install xp it works fine.
but when it son the laptop nothing.
There are no options in the bios to change it.
Plus in the bios it says Shipped with windows 7.
Just ticked off that i am stuck with windows 7. I want xp dude Crying or Very sad i know hp does not have drivers for xp but if there is a will there is a way.
could it have something to dow itht he 64bit cpu?

Answer #1
I think you don’t.
1- You can try another version of XP
2- You can uninstall the windows 7 and try to install the windows xp.
BUT ANYWAY CONTACT YOUR COMPUTER SUPPORT(contact seagate)
Answer #2
the problem is with xp. its not got the sata driver on the disk coz the systems to new.
so would need to rebuilt a xp disk with the correct drivers in
Answer #3
Download an untouched version of Windows XP.
Answer #4
It’s a missing SATA controller driver.
There’s a good workaround however,You just
have to find an SATA setting in bios and
set it to IDE mode or if you got an “SATA Native Mode”
setting just disable it,Then XP will recognize your HDD 100%.
Answer #5
That would be a simple solution but the hp bios does not have that option
So i installed ever sata driver from diverpacks and hope for the best.
Answer #6
Try nLite to slipstream sata drivers to your xp.. Burn it. and then try it will work.. Make sure to slipstream correct drivers.. I had same problem.. It will work just fine.
Answer #7
I tried but failed lol. It says some hp.sys is missing
Answer #8
Provide your full laptop model and I’ll find you the needed driver.
There are dozens of DM3 ones.

So i installed ever sata driver from diverpacks and hope for the best.

Did you use driverpacks base to do that or nlite? DP base is what
what you should be using to slipstream,Not nlite!
Answer #9
HP Pavilion DM3 1112sa thank you
it came shipped with win7 and has no drivers on the hp website but if i can get xp installed all i need really is wifi and i can use the external usb wifi
i downloaded the driver pack and used nlite to add it and build the iso
Answer #10
an other way is to search the apps section for “AHCI”
most of those hits will be for XP with SATA/AHCI/RAID drivers intergrated
Answer #11
I downloaded a install with a ton of sata drivers i even downloaded some AMD AHCI drivers from hp however its a exe and wants to install the drivers not sure how to extract them all to slip stream
Answer #12
what’s the file name ?
try googling it “<filname> extract drivers” or try opening the file with 7zip or winrar
Answer #13
I got amd AHCI sata drivers slip streamed them if this fails think i will just get the computer shop to do it.
“ahcix86.sys” and other files named the same
in device manager i just got “Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial Ata Controller in seven.
cant even find that on google
Answer #14
Wait, when doing it from driverpack did you use Textmode?
Had the same problem with a couple laptops. DriverpackBase did the trick.
If you want i can create an Iso for you with the drivers slipstreamed. It’s not impossible. I just don’t want you to take it to a computer shop and get charged for something so simple :-p
Answer #15
I used driverpack base i added all the storage drivers and some Amd AHCI drivers and slipstreamed them
i then used nlite just to create the bootable iso burn it off and hey presto it detected my hard drive.
The computer shop wanted to charge me 60ish to get xp working haha.
Thanks guys for your help.
I am going to work on this untouched 32bit xp and i will upload it.
it should work fully activated on most Hp pavilion laptops and hp desktops
Answer #16
edit: nevermnind,I see you already got it sorted just before
i posted Smile
Answer #17
Yep and i managed to get almost all of the drivers. Only the memory card reader wont work everything works fine. wifi ,bluetooth the works
Answer #18
Glad to hear,Anyways if you wanna get that
card reader working,Get this tool
and post the output:
http://www.mediafire.com/?cmd5ty9iv1ng1re
Answer #19
When I bought my HP laptop I was told that it doesnt support Windows XP. This sucks as Microsoft trying to make people use Win 7.
Answer #20
When I bought my HP laptop I was told that it doesnt support Windows XP.
Nonsense,It’s just that HP themselves don’t provide
XP drivers for that model,These can still be obtained
however.

Thanks i will do shortly.
Hp told me the same thing. But i used driver genius to detect some of the drivers.
The ones i had to manually find was blutooth, wifi, and now just the card reader.
Once all drivers are there i shall back them up and slipstream them in to this great version of xp pro sp3 i have and share.
hopefully next week i can get hotfile or flieserver account and host them there but ideally i could host them on my own server.
Update
Here is the output

It did not work. I tried another version of it to but no joy.
They do have a website for Alcor but they dont seem to have a driver download page plus there are a ton of these Alcor decives.
