Will a system update affect wii chip?

got a modded wii chipped with something or other – no idea what – and tried to play a game and its saying it needs system update – am i ok doing this or is there another way round it? cheers

Make a backup of the game and strip the update with a program.
There is allot of them out there, but I don’t remember their names.
