Why the differences between FFox and Opera – Google images?

January 2nd, 2022

Only in the last three or four days, I’ve seen Opera change the look of Google images entirely..
Why? Have G changed the coding such that Opera 12.17 doesn’t understand it?
And no reverse image search at all.
(I’ve used Opera 12.17 for a while and G.Images has always boon OK)
Firefox renders it the way Opera used to:

Opera:

but I still stress – Opera USED to do it the way FFox does now!!

Answer #1
Opera 23 = Firefox 32 on the image search
(Opera 12? You might want to consider an update. You can run Opera as a portable by unzipping the setup exe – so you can try without installing)
EDIT: It looks like the image page now uses an indexed database (html5). Out of the big 5 browsers, only Opera 12 doesn’t support them.
Answer #2
Yes – I’m still on O 12 – and I believe you are right.. O 12 doesn’t do html5
Thanks for the answer – I didn’t know they’d gone to a html5 database.

I just can’t stand the new Opera – I want bookmarks, I don’t want a bookmark bar, I hate the “stash” and the quick start button things.
I want a menu bar! This single button menu thing is rubbish!
It’s counter productive – it take me longer to do anything in O 23 than it does O 12.
It has less features too – it’s designed for the people who like Win 8 and that Fisher-Price metro desktop crap!
I doubt I will ever move from O 12 (I might if they bring back the menu bar with bookmarks menu!)
I do have an O 16 and O 23 portable – for Mega and Oboom that O 12 doesn’t understand (and Firefox, until recently, didn’t understand either). Now that FFox 30-odd understand Mega and Oboom, I might ditch the Opera portables)
Answer #3
the bookmarks are back in the Opera Next, so take some comfort that they will soon be back to the normal stream.
Answer #4
OOH.. really!!!???
*runs off to download Opera next *
thanks!
Nope – can’t find it.
I found the bookmarks bar – and it’s useless! I have a PILE of bookmarks.. the bar becomes full of folders and single bookmarks.
I can’t find a way to have a bookmarks menu – even Firefox has a button that opens a bookmarks list!
Answer #5
I’m seeing the same thing on Opera 12.x.
I have no desire to update either, since Opera has abandoned their original code and become just another chromium based browser…. but thats a topic for a whole different rant.
Answer #6
Oh .. the bookmarks there … let me dig where you have to “activate” them. Will be back with an edit shortly.
Whoops .. SORRY .. not Next but 25 developer. Links and article here:
