Why can’t I get the Facebook video calling plugin to install

February 25th, 2014

Does anyone know why when I try to install the Facebook video calling plug-in the installer starts for a moment in the background, freezes at about 1,304kb of memory and then crashes without any kind of warning or error. No matter what I do on my Windows 7 machine this happens. I’ve disabled all antivirus’, firewall (because I heard there was an issue with Avast) etc and still same result. If I try to install in Safe Mode, the installer begins like normal but then it won’t finish the install because the Windows Installer services is stopped and can’t be run in Safe Mode.
Help anyone? Google has been no help at all.
Additional Details
I’ve also tried every time running the installer as administrator.
The plug-in installs just fine on a Virtual copy of XP so maybe its a Windows 7 issue?

Try using IE to log on to Facebook, download and install it. It worked for me as I had a similar issue when using Opera. Using Windows 7 aswell.

I am sorry, but I must recommend against this. That is TERRIBLE advice.
Do not use IE. Choose from Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
Also, try to stay away from Opera if you can. It displays most web pages terribly, you cant re-size textarea’s, its just way behind in development right now.
Safari would even be a better choice =(
PS: Did you even see the guy’s avatar? lol
Answer #3
The browser I use makes no difference as it is an independent .exe. This is a problem outside of the browser.

CoBfan1987,
Its a process of elimination, you need to see if you have the right drivers installed etc.
The A\Virus would only effect the program IF you installed corrupt files!
Check to that the right USB Speed 1.0 or 2.0 and that your “Firewall” is allow access as well!

Answer #10
What would drivers and USB speed have to do with anything? I’m just trying to install a program here. I totally disabled my firewall and that didn’t help.
I’m no computer novice here, I’ve already tried every “basic” and not so basic thing I can thing of to get this to work.
Answer #11
As a buddy of mine said “Because your system recognizes ~lol~ when it sees it” lol
Answer #12
Just as Valdaz said, there is something configured improperly on your computer that is causing this. It could even be corrupting in your windows installation. But with no error message, we are not going to be able to diagnose this from our end.

” I try to install the Facebook video calling plug-in” + “Hardware (Webcam etc)” = PROBLEM
To SmAsHeDr
“But with no error message, we are not going to be able to diagnose this from our end.”
So the Advice members are offering you, is only based on what your request is and as we read it, IT sounds like you have and issue with Compatibility!
Not what members advice you recieve!
Check your “Error Log”
