If u can afford both the GTX 280 is the obvious winner….
Its was (until 2 weeks back) the world fastest 3d card…. I’d say u look at the ATI HD 4870 x2 as aserious alternative , just google the benchmarks and u’ll be blown away…….
But IMO , both the card are overkill ,

Neither Nvidia now sucks totally.
Go for Radeon HD 4870X2 its King!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And not to mention the next driver gonna boost the radeon performance even more. Screw Nvidia now its ATI all the way

I would go for nvidia 280 GTX and it is on the same ring with ATI Radeon 4800 HD. You decide but i will recommend nvidia.

^ the ATI HD 4870 x2 blows the GTX 280 to simthereens.
What this does NOT mean is that ,that the HD 4870 x2 is wayyy faster than the 280..
Its got just about everthing marginally better…. With c.lock speed at break neck sppeds ,even a 3% improvement matters a lot.
At the Moment , everyone expect a nvida die hard fan will tell u the 4870 x2 is a better card… ANd thats the truth

Lol, you need to ask? It is obvious the GTX280 is better, but if you are going for 2 cards go with GTX280s in SLI instead of 1 4870X2. They beat the 4870X2 when in SLI ofc.

This is all rubbish..
The ati card is around 5 – 12% faster than the nvidia card, but it’s a DUAL FPU card (two cards in one), and it still runs hellish hot.
NV 280 is the best, with the NV 260 being more affordable. Steer away from ati, they’re nothing but trouble.
