Whats so great about RS/ Why did uploaders start using RS?

So now that i know why people like it because its currently convent why dont people move to whats better slowly?

Now i want to know why did Uploaders first pick RS over MU and other uploading sites when they began.
rapidshare is the best cos you can find everything uploaded to it because everyone uploads to it cos it is the best. QED.

It’s not really popular for any good reason. Loads of people already use it, which make it more worthwhile for even more to sign up. Megaupload is actually far better, and is also marginally safer seeing as its servers are in Hong Kong. The only reason I use RS is because of this site.
Rapidshare has just grown to be one of the largest, if not the largest, file sharing provider. (Excluding P2P) When you buy a premium account, you can do wonders with the files that become available to you at a rapid speed. Why people don’t upload to other sites…. I’m not really sure, I love rapidshare myself, I guess its just a preference thing.
Reccomendation – Find the money, get a paypal/CC, and buy a month of it. If you dont like it, its 10 bucks out the window; but I almost guarantee that that will not be the case.
@leenarks, thats what i think i love megaupload and mediafire a lot more then i like rapidshare but all the files are on rapidshare and i just wanted to know why do we all fall for them making their 10$ a month because we keep uploading there when we could all go somewhere else and they would lose a large amount of money.
@ i will have to search for 10$ next time i get paid, and try it i just dont like how they limit you after you pay for their service.
So now i want to know is their a way that people would want to ever use a different service.

people upload so that others can download,
more people have rapidshare accounts than other hosts,
so uploaders choose rapidshare to upload to,
thus most stuff is uploaded to rapidshare
and people buy rapidshare accounts because they see that most stuff has been rs’ed.
maybe the question you should pose is “when did rapidshare take off and why” <- or something similar to that.

yeah but a site like mediafire does not put anylimits of any kind other then 100mb files but everything else allows the user to download at high speeds, as many files at the same time, load in less then 5 sec no storage limit. I mean there is alot there to enjoy even as a free user and then if your paid you can upload i think its up to 10gb per file. Its 6.97 a month i mean it has a lot more then rapidshare does.

I think it’s more of the chicken or egg question. RS is used more because there are more forums that post RS links.
People are rewarded for having their uploads downloaded so they post them where most people can find them, and that’s on forums like this.
While other uploaders may be “better” it’s about what’s available to downloaders that’s most important.
While I’ve found one board that caters to MU only I haven’t seen any that cater to others.
If I’m going to be rewarded for uploading, I would want it to be on an uploader that gets the most hits and clearly that’s RS.
