Should I go for it? What do you think about the graphics card? My old pc just died couple of days ago and now im sitting at the caffee trying to find a new one lol.
I’m not a expert on this so I tought I’l ask you guys…
GFX card. the 8800 is one of the best you can get, of course the Radeon HD is much better in my opinion but the 8800GTS will run most games very well with dx10 support. what your eally want to do is go to gamespot forums and pc hardware sectoin for a good review (like fps for individual games and crap) with the gfx card and the whole hardware thing in general cos they are gods of hardware. but anyway, can you seperate them out? cos its hard to tell what component startes and another finishes. and what exactly is your monitor?
if your a gamer and movie watcher, you will want to get a monitor with a contrast ratio of at least 600:1 and brightness of at least 250 to 300. make sure the panel is ISA or PVA and avoid getting Tn. try to get a hanns g if you can. but anyway, if you arent a gamer but a casual sort of game player, but mostly internet surfer or whatever, you can get a monitor with contrast ratio of 500:1, brightness of about 250 and a PVA panel, but i still dont recommend a Tn. also, check if it is VGA or DVI. those are connector types, the connector types send and receive to and from the monitor and GFX card. DCI is the new signal and is digital connector. VGA is the older version (now standard) and is an analog connectoin. most monitors youll find in a reasonable price will be VGA and its perfectly fine.
Go for an Intel Core 2 Duo much better then any AMD Processor or if you have a lot of money to spend :> an Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme QX6800.

The Radeon HD isnt much better even when they fix the problems with all the drivers for it at the moment. The 8800GTS will match it in every aspect. If you are a gamer then you would find that searching for a monitor (which in this day and age) you should be searching for a contrast ratio of 3000:1 not 600:1 the higher the betteralso look at the response time of the actual monitor itself.
I also agree in terms of performance the Intel core 2 duo range is excellent but the AMD chips are still up there when gaming. A lot people still use the AMD chips because they are worthy cheap chips to buybut if you can get a decent Intel chip, motherboard & RAM for the same price as the AMD then buy the Intel. There isnt much point in buying a quad core for games because no game will use all the cores and some games seem to have bad results when a quad core is involved. The quad cores are mainly better for encoding and memory sucking software.
AMD phenom quad core processor with abt 3 gigs ram shd be all that ull ever need in ur life dude take my advice and dont go for intel the chips r not at all bilt for multi tsking
and as for the graphics card the thing that u wanna by shud be enough
wat abt a SATA 330 gig HD
y dont u buy everything nd put it in ur old CPU o yea one more thing jus get VISTA HOME PREMIUM ORIGINAL its gonna work awsome if u buy this config
and the total cant exceed 1000 $ ok maybe 1500 $ bu take me for it its totally worth it

It depends, the 8800 wont match atleast a HD 4850. Even if they still have driver problems, it doesnt affect everyone. Maybe you will get lucky with it. AMD phenom quad core processor with abt 3 gigs ram shd be all that ull ever need in ur life

But the Core i7’s, Core 2 quad Q95’s, etc are good for gaming. They multitask just fine as well and much faster than the Phenoms

For gaming, 500GB wont even be enough

wouldnt it break? If you mean case then if its not sufficient for cooling, then its a no go
