What should i do

November 24th, 2013

I have been having problems with my sky broadband for the past few months which still hasn’t been resolved.
Today i recieved a call from a man cliaming to be from sky and is going to help me resolve my broadband problem!
I type in a website adress at the top of the screen (http bit) and go into this website where he can remotly access my pc and sort out my problem. He then proceeds to ask me for money saying sky will protect my pc from viruses for the next 9 years if i pay £144. I became very suspicious and hung up the phone then switched my pc off.
I phoned sky to ask them what was going on and they told me it was a scam. I can’t believe how much a coincidence this has been but should i reset my pc back to factory settings as this man may have access to my pc at anytime without me knowing. What should i do with passwords and any cards i have used on the internet?

Not necessary unless you feel you don’t have the ability to remove any malicious software off your computer.

It’s an old scam.
I’ve had people ring up in the past saying they were from my ISP and trying to get me to install Teamviewer – I kept them on the phone that long saying it wouldn’t install properly that they hung up on me
ps – who doesn’t have problems with SKY
