What mediacenter software to use?

I was wondering what mediacenter software you like. I’m looking for a while for the ‘perfect’ mediacenter. First I had linux installed, and I tried a few mediacenters there but most of them are crap. Then I ran across ‘Xbox Media Center for Linux’ which is an unreleased port but after compiling it, it worked fine. And its SO NICE! Excellent media center. But sometimes it stuttered because the hardware acceleration of my Nvidia Geforce 4 Ti was not so good in Linux.
Then I installed Windows XP, because I didn’t like how it takes ages to have something done on Linux because you have to figure it all out yourself. So the big question is now: “What is the best media center software for Windows”.
I’m still in the process of trying, but maybe you have some suggestions.
I tried MediaPortal, but it doesn’t work well with my touchscreen and I don’t like the overall feeling of it. (That is personal)
Maybe it is possible to use the Windows XP Media Center program or Vista but I don’t want to re�nstall (so only if an executable or installer is available somewhere).
Maybe Meedio is a good alternative, too bad though the support has stopped a year ago or something because the creators sold it to Yahoo.
Or maybe there is something else that is perfect! Any suggestions?
I know you asked for windows but I’d highly suggest getting an old xbox (not 360) and installing XBMC.
I have 3 in the house. All you need to do is plug them into a lan (or directly to your comp) and share what you want to use.
Softmodding is easy and cheap, and if you buy the MS remote / a 3rd party one it’s ace. Also leaves your computer free for anything else.
Once you get to setting it up right you can use it as an old arcade system too, all sorts of emulators (even PSX). Know this wasn’t what you were looking for but you can get a second hand xbox for about 30 to 40 quid. Well worth the cash.
