What is the best portable virus/malware remover?

August 25th, 2013

I’m trying to fix my cousins laptop, because it is having some problems. I can’t figure out what is causing it because it won’t let me download an antivirus or let malwarebytes run. Comodo stopped at 85% and would not continue after being left over night. Some sort of malware or virus is causing this. I need to know if there is a portable version of an antivirus/malware that will remove whatever is causing that to happen. Please and thank you.
P.S. I don’t want to have to reinstall windows if at all possible.

Well I was able to get into safe mode and it reluctantly allowed me to run malwarebytes. I will check out that though. Thanks for the info.

If you have problems running Combofix, Malwarebytes or any other antivirus, change the name of the .exe file ,so that the virus won’t pick it out and stop it running..
Eg. rename Combofix.exe to Combo-Fix.exe

Like it or not, This would your best option really. I’ve been down that road before and I can
honestly say it’s not worth the bother, You could spend hours over hours trying to remove the virus
without luck, Time better spent reinstalling the OS! Some viruses can be very stubborn and hard
to remove. Also, No antivirus provides 100% protection and common sense does play a big role here, What
I’m saying is, If these things happen to your cousin often, You should convince him to use Linux, At least
that way (common sense or not) he’d be safe.

Also could use this and look for any out the ordinary .exe process’s running and manually remove it.
