What is my system bottleneck

August 5th, 2016

Just wondering if someone could tell me what would be the slowest component that would hold back my system when gaming.
Heres my specs, thanks in advance
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition 3.40GHz HDD: 1TB Seagate, 250GB WD
Memory: Corsair XMS3 8GB (4x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P (Socket AM3)
PSU: Antec TruePower New 750W
CPU Cooler: Coolermaster V8

I was thinking maybe the RAM, stupidly I have 2 sticks of 1333MHz and 2 sticks of 1600MHz, running of course at 1333MHz – so I need to get that sorted.

Your hard drives are your weakest link…but honestly you shouldn’t have trouble running any games on max everything.
Answer #2
the hard drive is the bottleneck. but i dont think its gunna hold you back much so you should play any game on max.
Answer #3
Ok thanks, I had thought that but SSD’s are too expensive just now.
I can run most games on max but not Mafia II, I have to turn of Apex Physx and Antialiasing – everything else is max tho
p.s – I install games on my smaller HD for quicker load times

If you have a third PCIe slot you could get an nVidia card for PhysX.

how would that work? the nvidia card gets used only for that part of the rendering?
